1. Agreement to Terms

Welcome to Lawyers' Guide. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Lawyers' Guide mobile application (the "App") and website (the "Website"), collectively referred to as the "Service," operated by Lumos Global Studio ("we," "us," or "our").

By downloading, installing, or using the App, or by accessing the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Lawyers' Guide is an offline legal reference application designed for Nigerian legal professionals, including:

• Practicing lawyers and legal practitioners
• Law school students
• Undergraduate law students
• Judges and magistrates
• Legal researchers and academics
• Anyone interested in Nigerian law

The Service provides access to:

• Nigerian legal cases from the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal
• Legal principles extracted from decided cases
• Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN)
• Court Rules for all 36 Nigerian States and Federal courts
• Legal drafts and document templates
• Legal Diary for task and deadline management

3. Important Disclaimers

3.1 Content Accuracy

While we strive to provide accurate and up-to-date legal information, we make no warranties or representations regarding:

• The completeness or accuracy of any legal content, cases, or laws
• Whether laws, court rules, or legal principles remain current or have been amended
• The applicability of any content to specific legal situations
• The outcome of any legal matter based on information in the App

3.2 User Responsibility

Users are responsible for independently verifying all legal information with official sources before relying on it for any legal purpose. Official sources include the official law reports, government gazettes, and the websites of relevant courts and government agencies.

4. License and Use Rights

4.1 Grant of License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

• Download and install the App on your personal mobile device
• Access and use the Service for personal, educational, and professional legal research purposes
• Copy and use content from the App for legitimate legal work (e.g., drafting legal documents, citing cases in court)

4.2 Restrictions

You agree NOT to:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the App or its content for commercial purposes without authorization
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks
• Use the App to create a competing product or service
• Share your Premium access credentials with others
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to extract content
• Circumvent any technological protection measures
• Sublicense, sell, rent, or lease access to the App

5. Free and Premium Versions

5.1 Free Version

The Free version of Lawyers' Guide provides limited access to:

• A selection of legal cases and principles
• Basic Laws of the Federation
• Limited court rules
• Basic search functionality
• Dark mode

5.2 Premium Version

The Premium version unlocks full access to all features, including:

• 800+ Supreme Court and Court of Appeal cases
• 10,000+ searchable legal principles
• 200+ Laws of the Federation (complete)
• Court Rules for all 36 States and Federal courts
• Legal Diary with reminders
• Advanced Search
• Legal Drafts and templates
• Favorites, Notes, and Reading History
• Lifetime updates

6. Payments and Refunds

6.1 Payment Processing

Premium purchases are processed through:

• Google Play Store: In-app purchase using Google's payment system
• Direct Bank Transfer: For users who prefer alternative payment methods (contact us for details)

6.2 Refund Policy

For purchases made through Google Play:

• Refunds within 48 hours of purchase may be requested through Google Play
• After 48 hours, refunds are at our discretion and subject to valid reasons
• We may offer refunds for technical issues that prevent the App from functioning on your device

To request a refund, contact us at lawyersguideng@gmail.com with your purchase receipt and reason for the refund request.

6.3 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change Premium pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect existing Premium users who have already made their one-time payment.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Our Intellectual Property

The following are the intellectual property of Lumos Global Studio:

• The Lawyers' Guide name, logo, and branding
• The App's user interface design, layout, and visual elements
• The App's source code and underlying technology
• Original editorial content, summaries, and categorizations
• The Legal Diary feature and its implementation

7.2 Legal Content

The legal content in the App (cases, laws, court rules) is derived from publicly available official legal sources. While we have compiled, organized, and formatted this content, the underlying legal text may be subject to government copyright or public domain status as determined by Nigerian law.

Our original contributions include the selection, arrangement, indexing, summarization, and principle extraction from these sources.

7.3 Trademarks

"Lawyers' Guide" and "Lumos Global Studio" are trademarks of Lumos Global Studio. You may not use these marks without our prior written consent.

8. User Conduct

By using the Service, you agree to:

• Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms
• Comply with all applicable Nigerian laws and regulations
• Not use the Service to engage in any fraudulent or misleading activity
• Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
• Not interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Respect the intellectual property rights of Lumos Global Studio and third parties

9. User Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Key points:

• The App works 100% offline — your data stays on your device
• We do not collect personal data unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., feedback forms)
• We do not sell your personal information
• You are responsible for backing up your local data (favorites, notes, diary entries)

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• The content will be accurate, complete, or current
• The Service will meet your specific requirements
• Any errors in the Service will be corrected
• The App will be compatible with all devices or operating systems

11. Limitation of Liability

Specifically, we are not liable for:

• Any legal decisions, outcomes, or consequences arising from use of or reliance on content in the App
• Errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in legal content
• Loss of data stored locally on your device
• Missed deadlines or appointments due to Legal Diary malfunctions
• Incompatibility with your device or operating system
• Any third-party claims arising from your use of the Service

In any event, our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for Premium access (₦3,000 or equivalent).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Lumos Global Studio and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

• Your access to or use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
• Any claim that your use of the Service caused damage to a third party

13. Termination

13.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your use of the Service at any time by uninstalling the App from your device. Note that:

• Uninstalling the App will delete all locally stored data
• Premium purchases are non-refundable after the refund period
• You may reinstall the App and restore Premium access using the same Google account

13.2 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, if:

• You violate these Terms
• You engage in fraudulent activity
• We are required to do so by law or regulatory authority
• We discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice where possible)

13.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your license to use the Service will immediately cease. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law) shall survive.

14. Updates and Changes

14.1 App Updates

We may release updates to the App from time to time to:

• Add new legal content (cases, laws, court rules)
• Fix bugs and improve performance
• Add new features
• Address security vulnerabilities
• Ensure compatibility with new Android versions

Premium users receive all updates at no additional cost.

14.2 Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, through in-app notifications or email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

15.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

15.2 Dispute Resolution

In the event of any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service:

• Informal Resolution: We encourage you to first contact us at lawyersguideng@gmail.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.
• Mediation: If informal resolution fails, parties agree to attempt mediation before pursuing litigation.
• Jurisdiction: Any legal proceedings shall be brought exclusively in the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unenforceable, or illegal by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lumos Global Studio regarding your use of the Service. They supersede all prior agreements, communications, and understandings, whether written or oral.
